Vertigo

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is a specific type of vertigo that is brought on by a change in position of the head with respect to gravity.

This disorder is caused by problems in the inner ear. Its symptoms are repeated episodes of positional vertigo, that is, of a spinning sensation caused by changes in the position of the head.

Many physiotherapists are skilled in the treatment of BPPV which involves specific supported movements of the head and neck.

Treatment is gentle and can be very effective in alleviating the symptoms of BPPV with immediate effect.  The simple physiotherapy technique can relieve up to 80% of the dizziness with 1 visit when BPPV is the cause of the dizziness.
