Massage is a hands on treatment that releases tension in superficial and deep layers of tissue, reducing pain, restoring length and promoting healing of injured tissue.
There are different types of massage that we may use to promote recovery including:
Myofascial release therapy: as a stand alone treatment or in conjuction with other manual therapies, it is a very gentle hands on pressure that helps restore flexibility, improves function and reduces pain.
Trigger point massage: firm pressure is applied to tender points on muscle to reduce tension and reduce pain in the affect or associated muscles.
Sports massage: To promote healing of specific injuries, enhance performance and recovery.
