Nuala graduated from UCD with a 1st class honours degree in 2006 and subsequently worked for 15 years in St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin. Since 2010 she has specialised in Musculoskeletal Care specifically, at both Senior and Clinical Specialist level.
Nuala joined our team in September 2022 and has extensive experience in all areas of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy with specialist experience in the area of Orthopaedics, Hands and Plastics, pain management and foot and ankle rehabilitation. Her experience in the field of foot and ankle rehab focused her attention toward the assessment and treatment of complex lower limb injuries, and was the catalyst for her Research Masters on Chronic Ankle Instability in 2016. Nuala is passionate about continuous learning and evidence based practice is the cornerstone of her treatment approach.
Alongside her hospital work in Mayo University Hospital, Nuala is also a qualified Stott Pilates instructor. She has extensive pitch-side experience with numerous teams including Blackrock Rugby and Mayo Ladies Gaelic.
Nuala comes from a strong GAA background having represented her native Mayo at all levels, including 4 All Ireland Senior Championship medals. She is a former UCD Sports Scholar and GAA Allstar. This experience leads to an acute understanding of the psychology behind injury and rehabilitation in terms of the injured sportsperson.
Outside of work Nuala can usually be found with one toe in the water or traipsing around our beautiful patch of the world in her campervan with her husband, daughter and lurcher!
