Cora joined the team at Westport Physiotherapy and Acupuncture Clinic in 2013. She graduated as a physiotherapist in Manchester in 2002 and thereafter worked in the UK, Ireland and Australia in both hospital and private practice settings. She loves to challenge herself by continually developing skills in the areas of postural advice, manual therapy, visceral mobilisations, and acupuncture.
After having her first son via C section Cora realised how little support there was in the postnatal period, otherwise known as “the fourth trimester”! Cora then trained as a Postnatal Healthcare practitioner in 2018. Cora specialises in postnatal women’s health and functional fitness. She conducts an intensive assessment involving postural evaluation, diastasis rectus testing, pelvic floor assessment, and creates individually tailored integrated treatment plans for ladies in the postnatal period from six weeks onwards.
Cora’s treatments concentrate primarily on:
- Pregnancy related musculoskeletal pain-sacroiliac and pubic symphysis dysfunction, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome
- Ante natal and post-natal conditions- difficulties with delivery, stress and urge urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse etc.
- Menopausal symptoms
- Lymphoedema management following breast cancer- decongestive manual drainage massage and advice. (Casley Smith method, Limerick 2008)
Individual treatment plans may involve a combination pelvic floor exercises, Pilates, electrical stimulation, acupuncture and “hands on” treatment, as appropriate.
